In case you haven’t already heard, WE ARE HAVING A BABY! Yes, I’m changing my title to mama and I can still barely believe it. Through years of heartache and infertility, the road to parenthood wasn’t what we imagined. The Lord chose us to experience it for His Kingdom and we are grateful. We’ve had front road seats to witness His goodness and everlasting love. In the future, I’ll share more detail about our journey in hopes of being a light of encouragement for those struggling.
To everyone who reached out to offer congratulations, thank you so much. We’re undeserving of your overwhelming outpouring and humbled by your supportive prayers and encouragement. We know that every day is a gift, so for my health and the Baby Epley’s, too, we’d be honored if you’d continue to pray with us throughout this pregnancy.
Speaking of pregnancy, want to hear about my experience thus far? Keep reading!
“For this child I prayed …” – 1 Samuel 1:27
When did you find out? July 18th. Since we did IVF, I had a scheduled blood test to determine if the embryo transfer resulted in a pregnancy. As highly suggested by my doctor, I behaved and didn’t take a pregnancy test until after we received the good news. Seeing “Pregnant” on a test is something I’ve prayed for for years and honestly didn’t know if I’d ever see. Needless to say, I kept that pregnancy test and don’t plan to throw it away anytime soon.
How did you react to the news? I hysterically cried and buried my face into Jared’s chest as he hugged me with excitement. I couldn’t believe it. After years of heartache and disappointment, I FINALLY received the news I’d been longing to hear. I was PREGNANT!
Jared had taken the day off work so we celebrated by kayaking on the river and marveling in fact that we were going to parents!
When is your due date? March 26th
Will you still take weddings and portrait sessions next year? Yep! I’ll transition from full-time photographer to full-time mama, part-time photographer. As of right now, I’m not 100% certain how that will look but I do know one thing – I’m going to soak in life as a mamma the best I can!
How are you feeling? Honestly, I have felt great. I didn’t experience terrible nausea and sickness that many do in the first trimester. I was incredibly grateful too since I was in the heart of my wedding season. It has been fun to watch my body change even as that has meant back pain and exhaustion.
Any food cravings or aversions? Yep! Nothing too crazy… yet.
Cravings: Cottage cheese, sour cream, eggs, crackers, bread and dark chocolate.
Aversions: Sugary drinks, sugar in non-desserts, coffee
Are you finding out the gender? Yes! We found out last week and will reveal it to you soon! We won’t be sharing the name but if you have any suggestions, let me know!
Life got REALLY busy for 5 weeks and I forgot to grab photos. Oopies! We are SO excited!!
